Lasys 2018 set to show growth

This year's Lasys, the international trade fair for laser material processing, is set to attract around 200 exhibitors displaying laser systems, machines and processes when it takes place at Messe Stuttgart from 5-7 June.

At the event's launch, held in March, Florian Niethammer, team director industrial solutions at Messe Stuttgart, said that the target visitor groups were 'industrial users seeking solutions for material processing by laser'.

More than 6,000 visitors are expected to come from a wide variety of industry sectors, including: mechanical engineering and automotive manufacturing; metalworking and metal processing; plant and apparatus construction; precision engineering; electrical and electronics; optics; plastics; semiconductors; medical; glass; and many more.

Around 40 per cent of exhibitors come from outside Germany, and Messe Stuttgart has run a number of interim international outreach events in Turkey, Central Europe and France, in order to encourage more overseas visitors and exhibitors. A further event is planned for Budapest in November.

As well as the exhibition, there is an extensive supporting programme, including the Lasers in Action Forum, hosted and programmed by Laser Systems Europe. The forum is open to all exhibition visitors, who will be able to access a continuous programme of technical application talks to help them understand laser technology and its applications.

Alongside this, there will also be the Stuttgart Laser Technology Forum (SLT), providing an opportunity for international professionals to exchange knowledge. There will also be a workshop on 'Repair and build-up welding using lasers', and a seminar on 'Laser material processing in medical technology'.

At the same time as Lasys, Messe Stuttgart is hosting several other exhibitions, with opportunity for visitor overlap, including CastForge, Surface Technology Germany, Automotive Testing Expo, Automotive Interiors Expo, Engine Expo, and Global Automotive Components and Suppliers Expo.
