Foba to unveil new ultra black laser marking technology

The firm will mark a medical device sample in ultra black for visitors to take home

Laser marking and engraving company Foba will present a new product for ultra black laser marking at MedtecLIVE with T4M in Nuremberg later this month.

"The product marks not only black, but ultra black," said Philipp Febel, Director of Product Management at Foba. "This creates a particularly strong and long-lasting contrast with the laser marking."

Further details of the new product have not yet been released.

The firm will also show how a medical device can be marked with ultra black lasers as part of the value chain on the production line using the existing M2000-P laser marking workstation. Visitors to Booth 1-612 will be able to follow the entire process of production, cleaning, marking, and passivation, before taking home a machine-packaged product.

Christian Söhner, Foba's Global Vertical Manager Medical, who came up with the idea for the production line, explained: "The setup makes it possible to make the various production steps visible until the visitor holds the finished product in his hands."

He added that “laser marking is one of the last steps in the production process. Here, it must be ensured that there are no costly mis-markings."

Foba's camera-based marking systems guarantee a safe and UDI-compliant process, the company says.

MedtecLIVE with T4M will take place between the 23rd and 25th May.
