intelliSCAN III 20

Scanlab has announced a new scan head to be introduced at the Photonics West tradeshow in San Francisco, USA. The new intelliSCAN III 20 has long-term stability and low drift, making the 20mm aperture scan head ideally suited for such large-image-field applications as 3D printing and laser cutting.

This new system delivers a wide range of options and efficient digital-servo algorithms, as well as application-specific and customer-specific tunings. The scan head's electronics provide comprehensive diagnostic and communication functionality. The III 20's high-performance dynAXIS 3 galvanometer scanners ensure drastically reduced long-term drift and temperature drift.

One particular application is high-precision 3D printing of moulds, where the laser must repeatedly rescan very small structures very accurately for potentially hours at a time. A low-drift scan system is likewise crucial for laser cutting with large image fields and high power densities, as well as in industrial applications requiring multiple shifts and 24/7 operation.
