The size of the laser working spot of multi-kW fibre lasers or fibre-coupled lasers can be varied easily using AdlOptica’s new zoom collimator TrioFokus. This is an important function for processing heads in laser applications such as cutting, welding, cladding and brazing.
The optical design of the TrioFokus provides continuous variation of the collimator focal length between 50-150mm through the single movement of optical components. Its 48mm clear aperture enables it to be used with modern multi-kW fibre sources of up to 0.3 rad full angle divergence at different wavelengths.
The collimator’s sapphire optics guarantee high resistance to the radiation of multi-kW CW or pulsed lasers, along with reduced thermally induced focus shift and spherical aberration because of high thermal conductivity and water cooling. Due to its low sensitivity to misalignments, its compact design and its use of a QB fibre connector mount, the TrioFokus can be quickly, easily and simply integrated in already existing laser process heads.
