KENTEK FLEX-GUARD® AND EVER-GUARD® Laser Safety Curtains Door And Passageway Options

KENTEK FLEX-GUARD® AND EVER-GUARD® Laser Safety Curtains Door And Passageway Options

There are many elements to think about when designing curtains for a laser area, but one that often gets overlooked is how to safely gain access to the laser area. There are several options available, ranging from simple curtain overlaps to secured access-controlled doorways (What best fits the space, and the type of application should be determined long before receiving the curtain and being displeased with the configuration and functionality. An all too familiar complaint among LSOs is that laser curtains are left open because users do not want to deal with the difficulty of opening and closing the curtains.

Design with 9 Options for Your CURTAIN DOOR AND PASSAGEWAY solutions!

RIGID MAGNETIC DOOR

The Rigid Magnetic Door (RMD) can be used with most FLEX-GUARD® and EVER-GUARD® laser barrier curtain systems. The RMD creates a passageway for a Laser Controlled Area and can be mounted either into the curtain run or terminated at a wall. It is the best solution for high-traffic areas or when secured access is required. Entry buttons, keypads, or electromagnetic locks can be mounted directly to the door system and wired to an access control system.

DOUBLE BYPASS

A Double Bypass can be positioned in the curtain run of FLEX-GUARD® laser safety curtains as an access point for a Laser Controlled Area. This curtain passageway option can also be used in blackout curtains for environments where light management is essential. A unique roller system enables two curtain panels to pass behind each other on a single shared track, creating up to an 18-inch [457-mm] overlap for the entry and exit of personnel. Curtain ends are finished with plain hems. Hi-Vis reflective tape can be added to the edge of either curtain panel for easy identification of the passageway in low ambient light work environments.

MAGNETIC ZIPPER

The Magnetic Zipper passageway is an option for FLEX-GUARD® Laser Safety Curtains and Blackout Curtains, positioned in the curtain run or at the wall. The Magnetic Zipper is fabricated with specially designed strips of rare earth magnets sewn onto adjacent curtain panel edges. These magnetic strips are strong enough to keep the laser curtain light tight, but users can pull apart and open the curtain panels with relative ease. The user can separate the curtain panels and walk through; the curtain panels will then hang back to their original positions and the magnetic zipper will close with no need for manual alignment.

OVERLAP FLAP

The Overlap Flap can be positioned in the curtain run of FLEX-GUARD® laser safety curtains to create a passageway for a Laser Controlled Area. This is the best solution for non-interlocked entries. The Overlap Flap consists of adjacent curtain panels with plain finished ends; these panels share grommets and hooks in the track system, creating a flap that closes upon itself after passage through the curtain.

The Overlap Flap can also be used in blackout curtains for environments where light management is essential. Curtain panel ends are finished with plain hems. Hi-Vis reflective tape can be added to the curtain ends for easy identification of the passageway in low-light work environments.

SINGLE BYPASS

The Single Bypass can be positioned in the curtain run of FLEX-GUARD® laser safety curtains to create a passageway for a Laser Controlled Area. This Single Bypass can also be used in a blackout curtain for environments where light management is essential. A unique roller system enables one curtain panel to pass behind another on a single shared track, creating a 9-inch [299-mm] overlap. Curtain ends are finished with plain hems. Hi-Vis reflective tape can be added to the edge of either curtain panel for easy identification of the passageway in low ambient light work environments.

ZIPPER

The Zipper passageway is an option for FLEX-GUARD® and FLEX-GUARD® Laser Safety Curtains and Blackout Curtains to provide limited access. The Zipper passageway option can be positioned in the curtain run, in a curve, at a corner, or at the wall. With the Zipper passageway option, adjacent curtain panels have mating zipper sections sewn onto curtain ends. Curtain panels zipper together from the top - pull the zipper up to open and down to close. The area can be secured with a lock between the zipper pull and an optional D-ring at the curtain bottom, but you should ensure your lab has adequate emergency egress. Curtain ends can be fabricated with Hi-Vis reflective tape to indicate overlap or to easily identify the passageway location in low-light conditions.

DUAL LOCK FASTENER

The Dual Lock fastener passageway is an option for limited access in FLEX-GUARD® Laser Safety Curtains and Blackout Curtains and can be positioned in a curtain run, in a curve, at a wall, or at a corner. Dual Lock is similar to VELCRO® but with a firm attachment to discourage passage. For a Dual Lock passageway at a wall, Dual Lock is sewn onto a curtain end with boxed finish and a mating strip to be attached to the wall is supplied.

For a Dual Lock passageway in a curtain run, in a curve, or at a corner (curtain-to-curtain passageway), Dual Lock is sewn onto curtain ends, and the ends mate together with moderate pressure from both sides. Curtain ends can be fabricated with Hi Vis reflective tape to indicate overlap or for easy identification of the passageway in low light conditions.

VELCRO® HOOK AND LOOP

The VELCRO® hook and loop fastener passageway is an option for FLEX-GUARD® Laser Safety Curtains and Blackout Curtains and can be positioned in a curtain run, at a curve, at a wall, or at a corner. VELCRO® hook and loop is sewn onto adjoining curtain ends, which can be mated together with moderate pressure. Curtain ends can be fabricated with Hi Vis reflective tape to indicate overlap or for easy identification of the passageway in low light conditions.

PLAIN END

A passageway can be designed with Plain Ends, in which the curtain panel ends are finished with hems and no fastening mechanism. This can be used in FLEX-GUARD® Laser Safety Curtains and Blackout Curtains and can be positioned in a curtain run, in a curve, at a wall, or at a corner. Curtain ends can be fabricated with Hi Vis reflective tape to indicate overlap or for easy identification of the passageway in low light conditions.
