Electronics and displays
Lasers are used to cut, drill, weld, and solder a wide range of electronic components made from materials including metals and ceramics. They can be used to process surface-mount components, wire bonds, and connectors, as well as create microstructures such as microchannels and waveguides. In addition, they are used to anneal or dope materials such as semiconductors and thin-film transistors. For display manufacturing (including LCD, OLED and microLED displays) lasers are used, for example, to transform amorphous silicon into polycrystalline silicon, to separate OLED displays from glass substrates, and to cut and drill glass/polymer parts.
