DMC

Direct Machining Control has released new software for laser machines, DMC. DMC provides users with an easy and intuitive way to design laser fabrication recipes and control the system. Recipes can be based on 2D or 3D CAD files or created using built-in drawing and logical tools. After the recipe is designed, it is executed automatically without any use of machine code, making the whole process simple, graphical and based on ‘what you see is what you get’ principles.

DMC is designed to make laser machining more accessible and user-friendly. It means that machine integrators can create a machine for new applications easily, using of-the-shelf software to control it. No programming or G/M-Code skills are needed.

New software can be used for variety of applications. Current users do laser marking, selective material removal, PCB and piezo ceramics etching and drilling. Laser additive manufacturing is an emerging use for DMC, and new applications can be easily implemented. Most of them work immediately; others need a small additional feature. Those critical features can be quickly added by Direct Machining Control or by integrators/users themselves through a provided API. Support for new hardware can also be added via plugins.

To ensure a smooth process, a machine vision solution is also integrated into the package so that cameras can be used for a range of tasks, from viewing live processes to autofocus and sample alignment.
